Core Values

I went the other day to a presentation of an incredible social enterprise in Edinburgh dedicated to unleashing the greatness of young people who have weathered tough times and they also run leadership development programmes for teachers. 

They have been doing an extraordinary job to change lives for many years.

They were talking about their 6 core values for responsible leadership to live life by: 

- awareness- focus- creativity- integrity- perseverance- service 

It is extremely important to live our life by our core values, because they give us character, inner strength, balance, direction, centeredness. 

Our core values are the backbone that regulates our code of conduct, our behaviour. 

Sometimes we are not aware of what our core values really are, as we might have never taken the time to ask ourselves what it is that is really important to us to live by. 

But as we become aware and we decide to live our life by them, we ‘waterproof’ ourselves with regards to outside conditioning. 

So, now it is your time! 

Begin writing down your values, what is really important to you to live your life by, what gives structure to your life, what you stand for. 

And prioritize the values you have written down according to the ones that are really essential to you. 

You might realize that as you write down your values, old conditioning might come up, what other people have said it is important to live life by. 

The truth is that you choose how to live your life by, and you will realize that some of your core values are deeper than any conditioning or upbringing you have had. 

They are just part of who you are and honour that. 

And as you lead your life according to your core values, you will feel more at peace with yourself and more in the flow of life.
